Dr. Manju Bhashini
Post-Doctoral Fellow

Manju Bhashini is a post-doctoral fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. She received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar in 2021. Following her PhD, she worked as a Research Associate at the same institution, focusing on the design of linear motors for elevator door mechanisms. She was doing design of permanent magnet machines for electric vehicle applications. She obtained her Master's degree with a specialization in Computer Applications in Industrial Drives from M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore in 2011, and her Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in Tamil Nadu in 2001. She served as an Assistant Professor at Nirma University in Ahmedabad during two separate periods: from 2011 to 2013 and from June to December 2023. Additionally, she has spent four years working at various academic institutions in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Prior to pursuing her MTech, she worked for a year as a Patent Analyst at GE India Technology Centre Pvt Ltd in Bangalore. Her areas of interests are modeling and analysis of electrical machines, control of electric machines, and the design of specialized electrical machines.

Dr. Md. Shahrukh Alam
Post-Doctoral Fellow

Md. Shahrukh Alam is a post-doctoral fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, in 2025. His doctoral research focused on the design and analysis of a three-phase bidirectional Active Front-End (AFE) converter for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications. During this time, he developed advanced control strategies- including adaptive nonlinear and model predictive controls- for high-power EV battery chargers, and published in reputed journals. Prior to joining IIT Gandhinagar, he served as an Assistant Professor (Contract-I) in the Department of Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering at Thapar Institute from 2021 to 2024. Earlier, from 2018 to 2020, he worked as a Junior Research Fellow on a Government of India DHI-DST-funded project, where he contributed to the development of ICT-enabled smart EV charging infrastructure. He holds an MTech degree in Control System Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Patna, obtained in 2018, and a BTech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the College of Engineering Roorkee, completed in 2016. His research interests include power electronics for electric mobility, grid-interfaced converter systems, advanced control of power converters, and real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulations. He has hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, FPGA-based controllers, and MATLAB/Simulink environments. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, Dr. Alam continues to work toward bridging the gap between academic research and industrial applications in smart grid technologies and electric mobility.
