Post Doctoral Fellows

The lab will be hiring Post Doctoral for the following projects:

1. Precision neuroimaging: The candidate must have a PhD in Cognitive Science/Psychology/Neuroscience or related fields and have experience in EEG/fMRI data collection, preprocessing and analysis. The project will collect fMRI data from deeply sampled individuals to understand large scale functional organization and functional dissociation of different brain networks. EEG data will be collected repeatedly across individuals to find the robustness of signals across various cognitive tasks including attention, perception (visual, auditory, tactile), working memory, episodic projection, salience detection, social cognition, emotional processing, motor initiation and action, meditation and consciousness. Python programming experience required. 

2. NeuroAI: The candidate must have a PhD in Machine Learning/CS/Data Science or related fields with experience in creating and training ML models using Python based libraries. The project will look into two components a) using ML tools to analyze neuroimaging and electrophysiology data (EEG/MEG/iEEG) and make predictive models of health and cognition, b) developing new architectures and frameworks to mimic brain networks and organization.

The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment. The candidate should have a strong background in their field of research and be eager to take on new challenges, develop innovative research directions, and contribute to the lab’s overall success.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct high-quality research aligned with the lab’s focus and contribute to ongoing projects.
- Assist in setting up essential lab infrastructure, protocols, and workflows.
- Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at national/international conferences.
- Collaborate with internal and external researchers to advance interdisciplinary projects.
- Provide mentorship to Ph.D. students and research assistants in the lab.

Bachelors/Masters Students/Interns

We are looking for highly motivated and curious undergraduate and graduate students from IIT Gandhinagar to join our research group. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on research experience, developing technical skills, and contributing to ongoing projects in all research areas.

Eligibility and Requirements:
Educational Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from IIT Gandhinagar in relevant fields, e.g., cognitive science, neuroscience, psychology, computer science, biomedical engineering, etc.
Motivation and Interest: Strong enthusiasm for research, problem-solving, and learning new techniques.

Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Python, experimental design, data analysis etc.
(Optional but recommended) knowledge of signal processing, machine learning, neuroimaging.
- Familiarity with research methods and tools related to the lab’s focus.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines, and follow research protocols.
- Commitment: A minimum time commitment of 6 months for meaningful research engagement.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in ongoing research projects under the guidance of senior researchers.
- Conduct literature reviews and contribute to data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Participate in lab meetings, discussions, and scientific presentations.
- Develop new skills and methodologies relevant to the research focus.
- Potential to contribute to conference presentations and journal publications.
