Students

Teja Krishna Mamidi

Teja joined as a post-doctoral fellow in Oct. 2023. He worked at HTIC, IITM Research Park, for about a year. He completed his master’s and doctoral studies at IIT Madras in 2022. His research interests include kinematic and dynamic analyses of cable-driven, parallel, and serial robots. He is currently working on the design and development of cable-driven lower-limb exosuits.

Pratik Prajapati

Pratik is a doctoral student at HCR Lab. He completed his M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Gandhinagar in 2019. His research interests include dynamics and control of multi-agent aerial robots. His hobbies are watching documentaries, making YouTube videos, and engaging in sports activities.

Randheer Singh

Randheer is a Ph.D. scholar at HCR Lab. His research interests include human biomechanics, dynamics, and control of biomechanical systems to improve physical human-robot interactions. Besides his scientific interests, he enjoys watching documentaries and playing outdoor sports such as volleyball, cricket, and badminton.

Syed Mohammad Faraz

Faraz is a doctoral student at HCR Lab. His master’s work was on AI-driven muscular fatigue detection. His current research interest is to develop wearable robotics, with an emphasis on their application in rehabilitation and therapy, that positively impact the human experience.

Rhitosparsha Baishya

Rhitosparsha joined the lab as a PhD scholar in July 2023 after completing his bachelor’s studies. He is currently designing a sensory system to detect distinct phases of walking for different ground inclinations.

Rishab Kumar

Rishab has been pursuing his master’s at HCR LAB since January 2022. His current work focuses on the simulation and control of cable-driven manipulators.

Jenishkumar Chauhan

Jenish started his master’s studies at HCR lab in August 2023. He completed his bachelor’s in Mechatronics from the Uka Tarsadia University, Bardoli. His current research focuses on developing a simulation framework to understand the modifications in natural biomechanics due to musculoskeletal disorders. His hobbies include travelling, exploring, and listening to music.

Akshayraj Shinde

Akshayraj completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mumbai in 2017. He is currently working as a Project Associate at HCR Lab. His research interests lie in Mechanical design, Robotics, and Control. His hobbies include playing football, listening to music, and Binge-watching web series.

Ronak Vyas

Ronak completed his bachelor’s studies in Biomedical Engineering in 2022. He is currently working as a project intern at HCR Lab. His research interests include Rehabilitation, Signal Processing, Human-Robot interaction, and Bio-instrumentation. His hobbies include playing cricket, swimming, and watching documentaries.

Dhyey Shah

Dhyey graduated with his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering in 2022. Currently working as a Project Intern at the HCR Lab at IIT Gandhinagar. His research interests lie in Kinematic & Dynamic Analysis of Robotic Systems, Human-Robot Interaction, and ML-based Data prediction. His hobbies include Playing and watching Sports, Reading Books, and listening to Music.

Gayatri Nerpagar

Gayatri is a Sabarmati Bridge Research Fellow at the Department of Cognitive & Brain Sciences and is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She received her masters degree in Cognitive Science from IIT Gandhinagar. Her research interest lies in the emotionally expressive capabilities of the human body and how this is perceived by the observer, the biomechanical and neural basis of dance movements, action and motion perception, and neuroaesthetics. Her current research involves exploring the biomechanical and neural basis of emotional body movements using Navarasa (emotions described in the Indian School of Aesthetics) and dance movements. Besides dance and research, she enjoys reading fiction, painting, and long walks.

Arpeet Dhal

Arpeet is pursuing a master’s in Automation and Robotics at the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DU), Pune, and joined this lab as a research intern in July 2023. He is interested in rehabilitation robotics. His current focus involves designing and controlling cable-driven exosuits, with ongoing projects to develop hybrid back assistance and lower limb devices. Beyond research, he enjoys playing football and volleyball and exploring diverse cuisines.

Dr. Nakka was associated with the HCR Lab for his master’s and doctoral studies during Aug. 2015 – Aug. 2023. Later, he joined as an assistant professor at Mahindra University, Hyderabad in Sept. 2023.

Chinmay Jategaonkar

Chinmay completed his M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, IIT Gandhinagar in 2021. During his academic period he worked on Cable-Driven Ankle Exoskeleton at HCR Lab. He is currently working at Eaton India Innovation Center.

Sagar Parekh

Sagar Parekh was a Project Assistant at HCR Lab during the period July 2019 to April 2021. He is currently pursuing MS from Virginia Tech. He completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Nirma University. His research interests lie in Robotics, Dynamics and Control. His hobbies include reading, binge-watching tv-shows, and playing video games.

Azba Shaikh

Azba completed her M.Sc. in Cognitive Science, IIT Gandhinagar in 2019. She worked in the HCR Lab for her MSc thesis. Her research interests include understanding the kinematics and the dynamics of the human arm, neurorehabilitation, and systems neuroscience.

Vinay Rodrigues

Vinay was a project assistant at  HCR Lab, IIT Gandhinagar from September 2019 to August 2020. He completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mumbai in 2017.  His research interests lie in the area of human-robot interaction including mechanical design, and control of wearable robots. His hobbies include playing badminton, table tennis, and weightlifting.

Saurabh Lanje

Joel completed his M.Sc. in Cognitive Science, IIT Gandhinagar in 2019. Currently, he is working as a research assistant at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva. Prankur completed his M.Sc. in Cognitive Science, IIT Gandhinagar in 2019. His research interests include neurorehabilitation, human-machine interaction, motor control & learning, cognitive neuroscience.

Nevilkumar Panchal

Nevil completed his Master’s degree at IIT Gandhinagar in 2018. Currently, he is a post-graduate management trainee at KHS Machinery Pvt Ltd., Ahmedabad, and working on robotic palletizers, which includes design and development of beverage filling and packaging machines.

Viswanath

Viswanath completed his Bachelor’s degree at IIT Gandhinagar in 2018. Currently, he is an officer, retail up-gradation at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Andhra Pradesh, and working on automation implementation in all retail outlets, mainly Petrol Pumps.

Aniket Mazumder

Aniket completed his Master’s degree at IIT Gandhinagar in 2017. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at the University of Groningen and working on the MyLeg Project under the guidance of Dr. Rafaella Carloni. Apart from the PhD work, he enjoys football and maintains his blog.
