The Fire Engineering Research Laboratory (FERL) at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar hosted a visit by Divisional Officers from the Fire and Emergency Services Department as part of a professional exposure and interaction program.
During the visit, the officers were introduced to FERL’s advanced experimental facilities and ongoing research activities in the areas of fire dynamics, fire safety engineering, and emergency response systems. The interaction provided insights into how scientific research and large-scale experimentation at FERL contribute to the development of safer and more efficient fire safety practices.
The visit included detailed briefings on laboratory infrastructure, demonstrations of research capabilities, and discussions on contemporary challenges in firefighting and disaster management. Officers also shared field-level experiences, fostering meaningful dialogue between researchers and practitioners.
Such engagements play a vital role in strengthening collaboration between academic research institutions and emergency service organizations, promoting the adoption of research-driven solutions in real-world fire safety and disaster response operations.
