Doctoral Students

Sourav Ganguly (2024-present)
Educational Qualification:
MSc (2022): Ballygunge Science College
BSc (2020): Vidyasagar College

Sampurna Guha (2024 - present)
My work is revolving around the both sense-antisense gene neighbour. Using versatile molecular biology, biochemical, and protein biology techniques, I will try to bring a new insight into the functionality of the “not-so” non-coding THAP9-AS1 gene and will also characterize the coding THAP9 gene encode by doing a lot of alterations and truncations.
Educational Qualification:
MTech (2024): IIT Gandhinagar
BTech (2021): SRM Institute of Science & Technology

Kajal Panchal (2023 - present)
Hello
! My work incorporates bioinformatics and data sciences. I am interested in exploring non-coding genome and its implications in biological systems.
Educational Qualification:
MSc (2023) : Gujarat University
BSc (2020) : St. Xavier’s College, Gujarat University

Tanuja Bhardwaj (2022 - present)
I am interested in understanding how the THAP9 gene is regulated and functions across different cell types. My research combines computational and experimental approaches to investigate gene biology. I utilize techniques such as transcriptomic and epigenetic analysis to uncover patterns of gene regulation, and apply gene editing tools to experimentally validate and explore gene function. Through this integrative approach, I aim to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which THAP9 influences cellular identity and behavior.
Educational Qualification:
MSc (2020) : Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar
BSc (2018) : Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar

Aditi Saha (Jan 2021- Present)
Hi reader…
I work on molecular aspects of THAP9 gene which helps it to jump/not jump over the course of time. If you can’t find me in academic block, feel free to find me in any nearby eateries or in the process of sneaking out from a crowd for a peaceful nap
’cause eventually I am a bong by heart…
Educational Qualification:
Integrated M.Sc (Biotechnology)- 2015-2020: St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata

Priyanshu Das
I aim to study the effect of terminal domain deletions on the catalytic activity of DmTNP and also perform molecular dynamics simulations to predict THAP9 folding, inter-domain dynamics and protein-DNA interaction. Irrespective of where I am, you’ll find me yapping about coffee⚰️ and photography; however, you can be assured that I’ll never be restricted to these topics. More on our next conversation!

Nabendu Das
I work on omics data analysis using Machine Learning and WGCNA to find biomarkers of OSCCs. I aim to further advance my skills by learning RNA-seq analysis and exploring additional computational methods. Apart from studies, I truly enjoy catching up on sleep and taking restful naps whenever I can.![]()

I am interested in the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative diseases. Besides studying and trying not to mess up in lab work 🤧, I am passionate about cricket , music and Formula 1 😇- and just like the F1 legend Ayrton Senna said, I follow mantra – “If you don’t go for a ‘research’ gap that exists, you are no longer a researcher”.
