About Us

The Interspecies Research Network (IRN) is a research group based in the Department of Earth Sciences and the Archaeological Sciences Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar.

The group conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of zooarchaeology, multispecies anthropology, cultural studies, and forensic bio-geoarchaeology. IRN investigates human-animal-environment systems across space and time, examining how interspecies and transspecies relationships are structured within ecological and cultural landscapes.By integrating scientific approaches with perspectives from the humanities and social sciences, the group advances holistic frameworks for understanding multispecies coexistence and its broader social and environmental implications.
